In aviation, maintenance does not merely mean “repair” and “upkeep” but actually represents six essential terms: Repair, Overhaul, Inspection, Modification, Replacement, and Defect Rectification.

An “Aircraft Mechanic Specialist” is a professional who, drawing upon their knowledge and experience, ensures the airworthiness of aircraft and helicopters in the field of mechanics, with a particular focus on propulsion.

Entry into the Industry

Those interested in working in this area should also aim to obtain an international B1.1 certificate in accordance with the regulations of the Civil Aviation Organization and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). This certificate includes 13 English-language multiple-choice exams and 3 descriptive exams.

The technical-engineering department of an airline, sometimes referred to as the Engineering and Maintenance Department, includes the following units:
